Potential collaboration between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and UNESCO-UNEVOC

23 May, 2016

Bonn, Germany

Mr Vital Mukuza (Director of the Centre for Professional and Artisanal Apprenticeship (CAPA)) and Mr Polisi Kivava (Director of partnership coordination of the Communauté Baptiste au Centre de l’Afrique (a church NGO that runs more than 650 schools)) from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and consultant Ms Baier d’Orazio visited UNESCO-UNEVOC with the aim of sharing information on CAPA’s diverse activities and learning more about UNESCO-UNEVOC in order to identify potential areas of collaboration. CAPA is non-profit organization offering non-formal post-secondary non-tertiary education and training with a focus on disadvantaged populations, specifically the illiterate, disabled, war victims and youth populations. The delegation was received by Ms Katerina Ananiadou, Programme Specialist, and Mr Max Ehlers and Mr Jean Hautier, Focal Points for the African region of the UNEVOC Network.

The delegation and UNESCO-UNEVOC staff took the time to explain their respective activities, and among some of the key outcomes of the meeting was the possibility of future collaboration through the UNEVOC Network, as well as in the International Centre’s knowledge management activities, including contributing to the TVeT Forum and submitting publications to UNESCO-UNEVOC’s online library.
